This will be a question we ask one another for a generation. Other than stress-eating, checking in with loved ones, decorating our masks (because we just can’t help it), and collectively holding the world in our hearts… we three Sons have been making music together-apart like so many other performers.

“You don’t know what ya have ‘til it’s gone” rings in our ears as we miss the common things like sound checks, road trips, late-night diner conversations, and rehearsals. So much beauty lies in the daily experiences of a folk band. Simplicity meets extraordinary in the life of a performer. A lonesome longing for friends and fans, theaters and bars, jokes and stories, hugs and knowing looks, & songs both new and old. The loss of connection from our extended Sons family has been a heartbreak x 3. We know it is something everyone is struggling with and our love is with you all.

Gratefully our Bruce has been building and creating a small and much respected recording studio over these many years. He is able to mix and record in his space, accepting tracks from talented friends far and wide. He is an alchemist of sound and we are blessed. We are mostly writing and recording apart, with a few masked visits to the studio, we are quilting together a record of these times. Much like everyone in our position we’ve been catching up to the world of digital recording. New USB mics, lots of YouTube videos, FaceTime fights, and tearful nights have been balanced by new songs birthed out of the surreal pandemic.
Our new album will be different and sweet because these are strange times. Our next album will be a celebration of thanksgiving, a wish for being together again to celebrate our upcoming 30 year anniversary. If you are reading this you are in our collective thoughts. Here’s to not having to learn anymore lessons about how lucky we are to be together dear ones.

Be well and full of hope…Deb, Bruce, & Sue – Sons of the Never Wrong
